[M2] Mystic Seaport (external Site) is a museum in Mystic, CT. It is a collection of historic buildings which have been moved from their original locations and brought together to form a typical whaling village. The last American wooden whaling ship Charles W. Morgan, the Sabino (one of the oldest wooden, coal-fired steamboats still in operation), and much more make Mystic Seaport a popular tourist destination. It must be emphasized that everything at Mystic Seaport is historically accurate, and that reproductions are clearly identified as such.
Mystic Seaport is just a mile or so from historic downtown Mystic, a real, lively New England village
with restaurants, stores of many kinds, and several churches. The best ice cream is at
Mystic Sweets Shoppe (external Site),
7 West Main Street, Mystic, CT 06355. (Please be patient; their Site is still being developed, but the chocolate and ice cream are perfect now.)
